Classic Akbah
WHSA Registration: W0658
Date of Birth: January 2003
1A studbook Waler stallion, Medium type, 14.3HH
Black with one white mark on NSH coronet

Sire: Dardanelle W0064 (from Cordillo Downs Station, SA)
Dam: Romani (from The Garden Station, NT)
Bred by: Classic Stud, Tasmania (Ben and Jackie Kindblad)

Akbah was bred, handled and trained in Tasmania. As a youngster he was ridden on several group trail rides. He acquitted himself well at the Tasmanian Agfest demonstrating his good manners and placid temperament. Akbah crossed the Bass Strait several times as he was shared between owners Doug and John Treasure. He now resides at Treasure’s Walers in Stratford, Victoria, running with a mob of mares and offspring.Treasure’s Walers believe in natural 'hands off ' paddock breeding. This seems to work well, the mares work out their hierarchy, Akbah is boss and the foals arrive each year.

His companion foundation mares originate from Newhaven Station NT, a remote location NW of Alice Springs where the station horse genetic pool remained isolated for years. Waler enthusiasts were fortunate to be able to select individual horses on the basis of their conformation, age and condition from large mobs of wild horses yarded by the property management to be trucked to meatworks.  These ‘saved’ horses were relocated and now pass on the waler characteristics to their offspring.

We like our Treasures Waler horses to be versatile. We consider them to have a great temperament so they can do almost anything that is asked of them.

We only have sensible quiet animals. Our cattle, sheep and dogs are all raised to be fun and quiet to live around. Our horses have to be the same.
